Netbook

I've come up with another good excuse for buying myself a netbook:

1. My OU course comes with a DVD.
   
2. I'll probably work better away from home.
   
3. I'll probably do all my work electronically.
   
4. My MacBook is too large to carry easily, and it's dying a bit.
   

From this, I think we can conclude that I need a small, easy to carry something that will allow me to watch videos and write on the go. ergo, I need a netbook.

Do they have DVD drives now? I know my Eee doesn't (USB/card only), and that's the main thing I wish it had.

Most of my course materials in Edinburgh were pdf, and the Eee was so handy and portable to take anywhere and type notes anywhere, even on small train tables.

I haven't seen a DVD drive on one yet, but you never know. I believe that you can get USB DVD players to connect to laptops, though I don;t know how well they would work.

What I was thinking of doing was using the MacBook to rip the DVD to an MP4 file, that I can then play using some video player software.
