I think this snow is all my fault.
On Saturday, I had a hair cut, and told my hairdresser that she could do what she liked with my hair. As I knew she appeared to have a fetish for short hair, I wasn't surprised when I ended up with short hair (nowhere near a #1, but still a lot shorter than I normally have it).
This short hair means that I'm missing a lot of thermal insulation on my head, which means I'm going to get cold quickly.
Naturally, given the perversity of the universe, the snow fell.

Have you considered the alternative, that the universe is quite ordinary and it is you who are perverse? At least you have a hat :-)

It wouldn't surprise me if I am the perverse one.
While I do have a hat, and one that is quite good at keeping my head warm, it has a few limitations, such as not being suitable for wearing when riding a bicycle.
Unfortunately, the hat I have for wearing while riding a bike is optimised for not bashing my brain out, rather than preventing my head from freezing in freezing weather.

In Cambridge they often combine the two - a nice bobble hat or baseball cap or unfeasibly large hairdo and a bicycle helmet daintily perched on top.

I'm going to have to buy a wooly hate or something to wear under the skid lid - in this weather, my forehead and nose really freeze.
