Sartorial matters

Having found that I can now get back into my black leather, ankle length hobble skirt, I now have another problem. What do I wear with it?
I have a nice pair of simple black shoes with a nice 4 inch spike heel, but what do I wear on my upper half?

Well, it look like I'm going to the Gala Dinner at the con (A credit card receipt turn up in my email, nearly scaring the life out of me in the process). The only question is, how do I dress for this?
Do I go for a straight suit, a big, flouncy formal dress, or do I try for a Disc World character?
